On this day in 2017, Lee Kinyanjui was officially sworn in as the second Governor of Nakuru County at the ASK Showground. Kinyanjui succeeded Kinuthia Mbugua. During the ceremony, Kinyanjui received the instruments of power and pledged a “new dawn” for Nakuru, focusing on urban planning, healthcare, and restoring the city’s former glory as the cleanest town in East Africa. His deputy, Dr Erick Korir, was also inaugurated, beginning a five-year tenure defined by Nakuru’s elevation to city status but marred by unfinished projects across the county.
