On this day, April 29, we pause to honour the lives lost during the devastating flash floods that swept through Kamuchiri Village in 2024. What began as a heavy downpour ended in a catastrophic deluge, as a blocked railway embankment gave way, sending a wall of water, mud, and debris through the sleeping town.
The tragedy claimed over 60 lives and displaced hundreds of our neighbours. Today, we salute the courageous first responders and the Nakuru community for the spirit of Ubuntu shown during the recovery. May we continue to build a more resilient and prepared county.
