Susan Kihika
Susan W Kihika is a Kenyan lawyer and politician serving as the third Governor of Nakuru County and the county’s first female governor. Born in 1974, she is the daughter of veteran politician Kihika Kimani. After studying law in the United States and being admitted to the Texas Bar, she returned to Kenya and entered politics in 2013 as the first Speaker of the Nakuru County Assembly. She was elected Senator for Nakuru County in 2017 before becoming Governor in 2022. Kihika has focused on infrastructure, healthcare, water, agriculture, youth empowerment, and sports development, including the modernisation of Afraha Stadium. A key ally of President William Ruto, she played a prominent role in the formation and growth of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). In 2025, she attracted national attention after giving birth to twins while serving as governor, highlighting women’s leadership in public office and work-life balance in Kenyan politics.
