Afraha Stadium

Afraha Stadium is one of Nakuru City's best-known sporting landmarks. Established in 1948, the stadium has played an important role in the city's sporting, political and social life, hosting football matches, athletics competitions, public celebrations, political rallies and community events. For many years, the stadium accommodated approximately 8,200 spectators and became particularly associated with Ulinzi Stars Football Club. In 2021, the County Government of Nakuru began a major rehabilitation and expansion programme aimed at modernising the facility. The Kenya Defence Forces later became involved in completing the project, with Phase Two launched in November 2025 to expand seating and improve supporting infrastructure. Sporting activities began returning to the stadium while redevelopment continued, including the launch of the inaugural Nakuru County Governor's Cup in June 2026.
