On this day in 1941, tragedy struck the skies over Kenya when a Bristol Blenheim bomber (V6327) collided with another aircraft shortly after takeoff from Nakuru Airfield. The planes were part of the RAF’s No. 70 Operational Training Unit, a vital hub preparing crews for the North African front.
While V6327’s ultimate fate remained uncertain, the collision claimed the lives of Pilot George William Percival and mechanics J.A. Carroll and D. Mulligan.
